It’s official. Dan’s dad dreams are coming true. BOTH of his boys are in love with skating. Which, in his dream world will flow straight into hockey for them. We’ve had quite a few hit and miss years with ice skating, the boys would love it or end up in tears. Last year, it went well, you can read all about it HERE
Last weekend was a total success. We took Owen to purchase his very own pair of skates – you guys, those tiny things could make a grown man whimper they are so cute.
I was hesitant to let him get the skates, as Dan was too – $50, bound to grow out of them by the end of the season, and well, with our track record the ice can bring lots of joy or plenty of tears. But, we decided to stick with it. Both Brody and Owen did not shut their mouths about skating all week long. They would run outside to the garage to put their hockey gear on before school and mess around until I was pushing their tiny tushes into the car before we were late. We both had a good feeling about it and decided to roll with it. With the past few weeks we had, just getting out of the house and seeing the boys both in their element would be such a treat.
This is one of the few pictures I got of Brody – the rest are video. He held onto the wall the first few times, I followed, and he yelled at me, “GO AWAY!” And bam, released his little hands from the wall and did not stop “skating” for the full 2 hours. We were shocked, and OH so proud of this kid!
Owen held onto the ice skating pro for the first 30 minutes or so. Taking breaks to hit up the snack stand – pretzels, popcorn, slushies, sure kid – why not? Mom stumbled across SOUR mambas, I’m drooling now. I never liked candy before and sour anything is just my jam with this pregnancy. So I chomped and drooled away on the sidelines, cheering and grinning the entire time.
Owen finally let go of Dan and did such a great job balancing his tiny tootsies on the ice. I’m still shocked how well they did because there were swarms of teenagers just whizzing all around them!
Check out Brody in the neon orange in the far back, this was right after he told me to “Go away!!”
I was avoiding joining YouTube for a long, I mean over 5 years of blogging long time – and I took the plunge. So he’s our grainy first video.
