One Look.

Brody had a big day this past Thursday.  He had his first day of meeting and getting to know his soon to be classmates.  He’ll be starting a later session this spring and will be in Pre-K next fall.  Dan and I were a little nervous about the whole thing.  Brody, not so much.  He soaked up every last-minute of the class.  He was SO well-behaved, and caught onto everything so quickly.  For a kid who has never been in daycare, or anything on his own, we were so proud to see just how ready and excited he was for this new chapter in his life.  Driving him to school I mentioned to Dan how “this is it,” this is where it all starts.  Each day, each year, from this point on he will just grow more and more independent.  The entire car ride, Brody was telling us that we would leave him there, and we would miss him, but then the bell would ring and we could come get him.  It’s like he was prepping us more than we were preparing him! I watched from the corner of the classroom, and could not stop smiling as I witnessed how great Brody did in the class.  He was so polite, and enthusiastic.  The sweet, smart boy Dan and I adore.  He looked at me once, maybe twice if I could count him scanning the room in general.  That one look, just filled me up with joy.  He truly did not need me there.  He was beyond in his element, and more than ready to start “growing up.”  Dan and I felt so happy and relieved after the class.  As parents we know we have done, and continue to do what is best for our kids.  Brody and Owen are our everything.  We look forward to having lots of these moments in years to come.  That one look, nod, or hug that makes you feel like the proudest parents ever.
