A lucky lady am I.
Three men this weekend took it upon themselves to tackle some big projects (isn’t every project here a big one?) around here and I could not find myself more grateful at this moment. First, Papa John slept over the entire weekend and between himself and Dan they tackled putting on the entire top of our new composite wood decking. It is so pleasant to pull into our drive now and not see caution tape + support beams holding up our porch roof. Here’s a sneak peek –
Ignore the front color door – I’ve had a love affair with paint chips and it’s been a mess.
The guys worked from sun up until sun down, faced plenty of challenges along the way + managed to get so much done in such a short weekend. All we have left to do is put the finishing touches on the front porch … all of the rails + decor. Which one am I the most excited for? Honestly, it’s pretty equal. I am anticipating plenty of corny family photoshoots happening on this new porch of ours, lemonade sipping and music playing in the backround. I could not resist not photographing these guys as they sat and chatted about their work. I tried to be as sneaky as possible, I think it worked.
How handsome are these guys? Beyond heartwarming to watch this duo over the past ten years.
Another man in our lives, our Uncle made our jaws drop this weekend. He called us Saturday morning to inform us that he was coming over to power wash our deck. Of course, I immediately said no way hozay. But, he insisted, saying this was his house-warming present to us, and I just about wanted to cry. He came over, spent a few hours and completely transformed our deck from disgusting to fantastic and we could not be more thankful.
This is the only picture I have found thus far of our deck status prior to cleaning … I am sure there are more buried in my camera somewhere, for now this icky green/black background of decking will have to do!
We were well aware that what was hiding underneath was going to be an improvement from what it was. But when I came back from the playground with the kids and turned the corner I nearly screamed! The difference is unbelievable !
I know right! It’s beautiful already and we have yet to seal it!
Our weekends have been packed to the brim. The nice days we are outside pulling weeds, killing them, attempting to tackle this jungle of a backyard we purchased. When we step inside we still have a list full of things to accomplish.
Most days this house overwhelms us, we sit down at the end of the night multiple times a week and remind ourselves about what this house will be. Which in return reminds us to shutup and enjoy it, because it may not be “ready” in our eyes, but we have come SO far. All of this help this weekend was like getting the biggest hug ever, just when we needed it the most!
Thank you thank you!
