First, let me introduce you guys (or reintroduce avid Thome Home followers) to our other sons, the fur-ball brothers, Duke and Bentley.
Duke is a 4 year old German Shepard who is so thick he could be mistaken for a manatee. He loves other dogs, officially stopped jumping on people ( I think his weight has something to do with that ) and will sneak onto any couch he can when we are not looking.
Just look at that golden beluga. Duke is the ultimate dog right now, we’ve officially existed the crazy puppy stage with him – only to kick it right back into gear when I convinced Dan to bring Bentley into our home …
Don’t let his sweet face fool you. Bentley is a two year old German Shepard who takes multiple anxiety-meds daily. He has more energy than a power plant, and struggles to listen. While his mom and dad are flustered with his existence 70% of the day – that 30% where he actually listens, cuddles, and does not pounce on our kids – we love him so.
Owning two dogs is the equivalent of having 10 children. It is a TON of work, and with 3 kids we do not always have the time or energy to keep them as active and engaged as they deserve to be. When we first moved here, we found Barks & Recreation, the ultimate doggy daycare! After just one daycare stay, we were instantly hooked. At Barks & Recreation, you have a multitude of options for the amount time spent your dog spends there!
There is a list as tall as me that could talk about all of the things I adore about this facility – but I will just talk about what I feel are the greatest benefits of sending your dogs here!
They get to play ALL day! You guys – you do not have to pay for “play time” The dogs are divided between small and big dogs (unless you say your little one can roll with the big guys) and they are allowed to play from the time they walk in, until the time they are picked up. Playtime is supervised, and they even have access to the outdoors as they wish!
Duke and Bentley howl the entire car ride to Barks & Recreation – they literally are wagging their tales so hard I am shocked we still have fabric on our car seats. The quickest sprint to the door, and they anxiously cry at the gate to be let inside to play with their friends! At pick up, regardless if they spend 5 hour, or overnight – they come back SO tired, you guys! The freedom to play with their pup friends is the highlight of their week!
Barks and Recreation also offers grooming, and when our dogs stay an extended period of time we prefer to have them groomed prior to pick it. It is beyond convenient that you can have all of these services in such an amazing establishment! I swear every time I walk in, and get the boys, I am so touched with how loved they are when Duke and Bentley stay. I know our dogs are taken care of and it gives Dan and I SO much peace of mind when we need them to be watched!
If you have an upcoming vacation, and are in need of boarding, I could not recommend this establishment more! The boys will be there while we go to the beach in the upcoming week, and Dan and I are so relieved we do not have to stress about the safety and care of our dogs. We know they will be watched, play like crazy, and socialize with their friends!
PLEASE keep in mind, all dogs, whether attending Barks & Recreation for daycare, or boarding, must complete their Barks & Recreation New Pup Assessment – this process is simple! Your dog(s) will stay for a few hours, and the staff will let them interact and play with other dogs. This process takes place to ensure that your dog will interact well with other dogs and staff members.
