Over the weekend we had kept ourselves busy with family and a few projects around the house. Our idea of a perfect weekend in the Thome home! The boys were itching to be done with school on Friday – they always look forward to seeing their aunts and uncles and grandparents for endless hours of shenanigans!
Dan’s dreams came true on Friday. No, I did not go in to get my boobs done, although I think a big breasted wife would be top on his wish list this season (totally kidding, guys. maybe) He passed on the knockers and treated himself to a new t.v. for our family room. I know, I know, if it is not broke, why fix it? After having family over for Brody’s birthday bash – what we always knew was an issue started to shine like a pimple on our noses.
Our t.v. was far too small for that room. How in the world could a 50″ television be too small, you ask. Well – put it in a room that is nearly 30 feet long and 25 feet wide and suddenly you’ve shoved your 50″ into a shrinking machine and your hubby is yelling “honey, I shrunk the t.v.” once he hangs it on the wall. It looked ridiculous.
So, like most women trying to please their man I went right along with the crazy idea to go bigger and better and ride the wave to a new boob tube (ha. im funny.)
Here is a shot of our t.v./dresser before the purchase.
As you can see, the t.v. looks bite size up against that giant wall. I completely denied it because there is a list longer than me of items I would rather purchase right now, but Dan works so hard, and well, sometimes you just have to shut your trap and let a man do what he wants to do. Sometimes, men are right. Did I just say that?! —
We purchased a 70″ smart Sharp t.v. and Dan is completely digging it. Not only does it make the room feel more well proportioned, it is far easier to see what is actually on the t.v. when you are sitting across the room. Even better, Dan LOVES to watch sports back here now, which means our living room is all mine for my reality show line up!
BA-zinga.
I took the time to repaint the dresser last week while we waited for the t.v. to be delivered. It was screaming for our attention. We have had to cover the top up with a table-cloth for years because the paint peeled back. A good sanding and a fresh coat of paint and this $20 craigslist dresser is turning heads!
Large and in charge – finally, our giant wall has met its match!
As you can see the rest is still a complete blank slate. Which is okay for now. We have so many different ideas for this wall I am glad we did not jump the gun and do something to it yet. This will be a one time only project when we did it (famous last words of mine).
Loving the new shade of blue – the same as our bar cabinet we did this past fall – you can see that here . The perfect shade of navy for us!
Glad the hubs took the plunge and bought this – no more squinting our eyes on the couch!
